The School That Grew Wings

Our wonderful Seagull building has a long and cherished history from 1896 to the present day. We decided it would be really good to capture some of the many many stories from our building while we could still interview all the right people.

With support from the National Lottery Heritage fund and Suffolk Community Foundation, we were able to commission local creatives to make a wonderful documentary in six parts covering the history of the building from its inception as a school, through to the thriving community hub it remains today.

Morton Road School

Discover more about the origins of the Seagull building, and hear about school life at the turn of the last century.

Episode 2

The changing face of the Seagull

Find out more about how the building was used in the post war decades, and how the theatre began to take shape.

Episode 3
