Community Recording Studio

Introduction

We have recently been able to create a small recording facility here at the Seagull. This is intended for members of the local community to have low cost access to recording facilities in order to boost creativity and support the local cultural community.

What we have available

Small recording booth, and mixing studio, suitable for up to 2/3 in the booth at a time

Software:  Logic Pro X

Headphones/Stools provided

Currently we only have the capacity to record from the left and right output of an analogue desk, so multiple instrument recording is possible, but you will only get one track, you will not get individual tracks unless each instrument is recorded individually. Hoping to be able to increase our recording capacity eventually.

Equipment List:

  • Shure SM58s
  • Shure SM57s
  • Shure Beta 52A Bass Drum Micrphones
  • Rode NT1-A Microphones
  • AKG C214 Microphones
  • Mic Stands
  • XLRs
  • Jack to Jack Cables
  • Passive Single & Double DI Boxes
  • MIDI Keyboard

We do not provide any other instruments or amps

Suitable for:

  • Solo vocal recordings for voiceover/vocal reels
  • Solo instrumental recordings
  • Solo/Duet musicians (e.g. vocals & guitar/piano etc.)
  • Podcast recordings
  • Live session recordings (multiple performers/instruments/drums recorded as one track)
  • Mixing existing recordings

Not suitable for:

  • Full band recordings
  • Drum recordings with individual parts recorded (we could probably fit a drum kit in, but you would only get a one track recording of the full kit)

Cost

  • £20 per hour (Studio only)
  • £35 per hour (with a technician supplied)
