Join the Lowestoft Carnival 2025

The 2025 Lowestoft Carnival will take place on 17th August 2025 and we are keen for as many local people and groups to get involved as possible.  To achieve this there will be several ways you can get involved.

1. Have a Float

The core of any carnival is the floats. For our event to be successful we are aiming at having as many floats as possible.  We are particularly keen to see local voluntary sector organisations taking part.

The primary part of having a float is finding a vehicle and a driver. Traditionally this has been a flatbed lorry of some sort, however we are open to a range of suggestions and different types of vehicle.  Obviously the type of vehicle you can find will determine how you can decorate it – but we would love to see as many wild and wacky entries as possible.

To support the construction of the floats, we are happy to support groups with finding spaces to use and helping with connecting groups and volunteers. Just get in touch.

There are some guidelines to how your float can be set up, and we will send you these when you apply for your float.

To register for a float use the links below.

2. Be a walking part of the procession

If you cannot find a vehicle for your float- you or your group can join the procession as a walking participant.  You can dress up, make an elaborate costume or parade as a group. If you play instruments you could form a marching band!

This is by far the easiest way to get involved – all you will need to do is register using the links below.

3. Volunteer as a marshall

To deliver the carnival we will need a large number of volunteer marshals. This will involve wearing a high vis tabard and supervising a particular area of the route.  Full training will be provided and you will need to be available on 17th August from 9am till 4pm

To volunteer, register using the links below.

4. Provide a vehicle

We will rely on the generosity of lorry drivers and owners of all type of vehicles to take part in our procession. If you would like to volunteer your time as a driver – please register below and we will match you with a group looking for a float.

Registrations are now closed
