The Rogues Shanty Chorus return to the Seagull Theatre after ten complete sell-out performances with their new show ‘The Beach Village’.
At the end of the C18th, some basic houses were erected on the Denes to the extreme east of Lowestoft. These were the start of what became known as the Beach Village, or (by the residents) the Beach - a “town below the cliff”.
The show will explore the intriguing story of Lowestoft’s beach village, its social history, recalling some of the more infamous characters from the Beach village as well as some of the songs that the residents sung.
The group promise to bring their usual inimitable mix of fun and rowdy sea shanties and evocative storytelling performed through equal parts authentic traditional pub singaround and unique charming humour - singing along will be encouraged.
EARLY BOOKING IS RECOMMENDED!
